The festival was so amazing – the energy and connection and having [all the international visitors] there, not understanding a word of Hindi but diving into the  group anyway!
It was magical!

I live here, and yet the ashram touched me so deeply too, even after I have gone to so many temples, ashrams, and places full of spirituality. Guruji’s ashram has a very special magic.

For one, it has drawn so many of us to this one incredible place - in very similar ways.

I loved it!

Oh, the spirit of sisterhood! So much to learn from, rejoice & share and feel along with. There may not be enough names to share here, but please know it’s all there in the heart. Creativity, divinity, and ecology, as examples of being, from all corners of the world at Utsava Maa! Thank you so much.

Walking into the ashram at Shri Jasnath Asan felt like walking into Mother Earth and then letting her wrap her arms around my tender body as she gently rocked my cares away. She fed my soul, she warmed my heart and she opened my eyes.
I am forever grateful.
I miss you.

The experience exceeded my expectations. I met incredible women from around world. We talked, did art, learned about important causes, shopped, did yoga, danced, ate delicious food, provided a safe space for each other to share their hearts, did workshops, sang songs. It was togetherness Maximus and I LOVED every second. The rooms are large. I felt safe.

It was awesome.

Not only did I have the opportunity to teach, but I got to attend other classes, lectures, workshops, conversations and  independent film screenings. The Utsava Maa festival opened my eyes and heart to all I could be doing to affect change and help the world heal.  I consider it an honour to have been given the opportunity to share my passions and cannot wait to attend in the future!

I just returned from a deeply immersive week at Shri Jasnath Asan and the Utsava Maa Global Women's Festival in the Thar Desert of Rajasthan. I don't think I have ever had such an experience — in that week I had more heart-felt, eye-locked moments, and embraces like you give to someone you have known your whole life. I cried tears of fear, love and sorrow.

I even had a moment of pure Enchantment… during our New Year's Eve celebration, when all the Western and local Indian women danced together under the Red Tent — different languages and cultures aside,

we were all one in that tent.

Each inhale and exhale I took this past week was full of such energy and purpose. I’m trying to approach each moment as tenderly as I did in India — to open my heart, lean into inspiration, and nurture my body, mind and soul as I transition back.

To all my sisters — each of you touched my soul.

I hope we see each other again someday,

in this life or the next.

I'm so glad I attended the pre-festival; three days of settling in, making friends and learning in an intimate space, about what was happening in the environment and who was recording it. Meeting the people involved in making the films and starting the refuges and schools that are making improvements in the lives of the disadvantaged people was a highlight.

This time was excellent in preparing me for the festival; a time of listening, sharing, learning, bonding, singing and dancing. All those things came together in a place of love and acceptance. I've never felt such a free and easy connection with people, and I respect each one - all ages, all nationalities.

This was an utterly safe place to come together and share ideas with other women, on how we might save the world!

Thank you Utsava Maa for giving me the tools to plant more seeds.

Carla Simmons

Women are generally the choosers of food and nurturers of the family. Every woman wants the health of her family and to have that, we must have the health of the land. I learned about biodiversity, plants with medicinal qualities, the adverse effects of too much narrowing of choice and overuse of genetic modification and pesticides. My feelings have changed due to the knowledge I gained at Utsava Maa because I now realise that the people who have been making the choices in the world - the ones with the power - have made too many economy-based and selfish choices, and the environment is sick as a result.

Women coming together in the spirit of community have a strong nurturing instinct and are much more likely to look ahead for the health of the environment, our children and our grandchildren. An alliance of women, as seeded at Utsava Maa, has the capacity to transform the local food chain for generations to come.

I’m so glad I met all these fabulous women who have helped me embark on this new stage of my life.
Thank you.

“When I saw the promotion, I knew I had to go. Why? No idea! But my body knew! After a challenging 2019, I needed a breath of fresh air! And it was that and much more. Spending a week with a hundred women in an ashram in a desert ranks among one of the most memorable, warm and beautiful experiences I’ve ever had. This festival was a deep healing of the feminine for me and I think for many women who attended the festival.

Just being in each other’s presence in a safe environment allowed us to let go and heal many wounds. To be surrounded by so much love and nurturing energy, by so many women from all around the world, helped me make peace with women and my womanhood. It was so liberating to be among sisters. To allow ourselves to relax, to be unkempt, imperfect. To share stories, meals, painting sessions, yoga, ceremonies, workshops, rooms, bathrooms, colds and toilet paper. It was liberating to laugh and cry together. It was a profound vision of what our world could look like if more women around the world unite and heal… and more men too.

It was remarkable to be among women who are all walking their path, growing and learning along the way. It was inspiring and comforting for me to see that there are other women 'like me' around the world and that I’m not alone in the vision I hold for my life and this world. I have met women who I know will be friends for a long time, some of which I intend to co-create with. The world truly needs more spaces and places where people can come together to envision new ways of being and living, and cooperate in making them materialize.

I feel forever grateful and blessed to have been part of this magical experience and very happy that I could share my practice of yoga every morning as well as hold space for the healing of other women, whether through conversations, hugs, simply listening, making tea, smiling, or ceremony space.
